About the Job

The Accounting & Tax Coordinator will report directly to the site Accounting Manager, who will assist, review, and train as necessary to achieve the expected results. This position will be leading an accounting group that will support it in daily basis activities and compliance. The ideal candidate will handle the accounting & tax area by registering, supervising, and controlling financial and tax transactions. They will provide accurate and timely information that will be used for decision-making and other analysis to the Head Office.

As an Accounting & Tax Coordinator, You Will…
  • Control over financial statements transactions, providing explanations for month-end impact.
  • Analysis of accounting data and preparing reports for monthly deliverables.
  • Support in the execution of the accounting records with a monthly closing deadline.
  • Follow-up and support in accounts payables and treasury areas.
  • Expected results are directed toward the “Big 4” auditing firms, who will be in charge of the final review to comply with all the obligations of a medium-sized company in Guatemala.
  • Responsible for the review, supervision, and planning of taxes and presentations.
  • Prepare salaried ISR for a company with approximately 3,000 employees every month and at the annual closing.
  • Analyze and prepare the work papers for financial audits, ISO, current and deferred ISR, transfer pricing, tax credit refunds, and others.
  • Provide a preliminary review of the financial statements, ensuring fiscal and regulatory consistency within the Guatemalan framework.
  • Support with any other audit requirements.
As an Accounting & Tax Coordinator, You Need…
  • CPA (or student) with a minimum of 3 years experience working in a similar position.
  • Previous work experience in a “services” company is preferred.
  • Knowledge in the use of the Reten ISR tool (will handle up to 3000 employees).
  • Experience in financial statement audits, tax reviews, VAT claim audits (electronic regime), and tax authority audits (SAT).
  • General knowledge of Guatemalan tax regulation.
  • Good accounting knowledge.
  • English language skills: basic (A1-A2).
  • Intermediate knowledge of Excel.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with diverse groups of people, both internal and external.
  • Strong problem-solving, planning, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrates consistent ability to maintain confidentiality in all circumstances.
  • Proactive, results-driven, and highly organized.
